In the first major concert since 2004, we took the stage with a pronounced hunger, unleashing a program designed to win over the audience from the first chord. Pictured here is the first chord.
I ask the audience to see the message behind the song. Or I may be reenacting a scene from a Three Stooges film - God, they were great.
Here is when I thought I saw Curly among the crowd, pointed and asked him to come up on stage so we could redo that scene with the eyes. Booked an appointment with the shrink the next day.
Singing at the top of my lungs, giving it my all, as I do each time out. (Never mind my lips are shut tight; I've made a study of ventriloquism, and perfected a technique of having a member of the audience sing for me - saves wear and tear on my vocal chords, the better to make full use of them while driving around town in rush hour traffic.)
Speaking of driving, always keep an eye on the rear view mirror, that's what I always say. In this case a speeding BMW was fast making its way between the bass and drums, and I had barely enough time to avoid collision. First rate comedy, this.
I wave goodbye to an appreciative audience. An exhilirating moment. I have been lucky to receive recognition of my work, and getting that on stage is truly valuable (although a bundle of cash is nothing to sneer at - but I wouldn't know).
