Odds & Ends
The name Marshall is revered in Rock music circles and I proudly pose with the amp, exposing my brain to the potent magnetic fields generated by the four 12-inch speakers enclosed therein.
Entertaining at a family outing, except that it was held indoors, so you could call it an inning. This "Oud" belonged to my grandmother, Hannah. It was made in Jerusalem, in 1926.
At a concert off Hamra, 1997, part of Ziad's Left Hand Band, when his hand was in a cast.
A fine piece of work by our webmaster, Walid Itayim. This collage was nearly voted onto the national flag, but I chickened out at the last moment.
A gig at IC with my friend Issa Ghandour. That was a tough crowd but we had them dancing in the end.
A session with Khalid Khudeiry, at Imad and Nicole's, in 2002. My first performances in clubs were collaborations with Khalid as duo guitarists, back in 1980. We played original, instrumental pieces written for two guitars. We were way ahead of our time.
I know what you're saying: Jump, jump. And I may very well indulge you one day, but there likely will be a long, long wait. Take a number, grab a seat.
On the beach, with the inimitable, incorrigible Abu El Sakher. Abed (his civilian name, long since abandoned in favor of the more illustrious Abu El Sakher) is a spiritual guide of sorts, and presides over a pack of hardened men (I among them) who hit the beach every day of the year. This photo was taken in January 2002. Mount Sannine, clad in snow, appears over my right shoulder.
