Gemmayze, 16 May, 2004, The Rained Out Concert.
The band, featuring new member Salim Lahham, far right. A tight group, we managed two-and-a-half songs before rain poured down, aborting our effort.
What is my body language conveying here? I'm no expert, but I'm probably indicating the size of payment we'd like to receive.
The choir: Jan Marie, Stephanie, and Salim cut and pasted into the choir, which he solidified with his throaty growls. A veritable lion.

Rain in mid May is unexpected, but not as shocking as when it rained the day my grandfather died. Nicolas Shaheen was Lebanon's foremost astronomer, operating the A.U.B's observatory, where my cousins and I would peek through the giant telescope at the moon and stars. Dr. Shaheen withdrew from earthly responsibilities on July 31st, and a rare rain came down that day.
By the third song we were wading out there, and never did make it through the second verse. Rain turned into a river rushing down the St. Nicolas stairs, and spectators ran to safety after a loud pop signaled the demise of the sound system.
