First Recital & Earliest Bands
My first recital of classical guitar, December 1972.
(1976) Left, the late, great Fuad El Said, whose promising life was ended by a stray bullet during Lebanon's pointless 20-year civil war. Right, professional bassist/guitarist/sound engineer, Sami Shabshab, now a big-shot in Los Angeles.
This was NOT my wedding, and Helen at my left NOT my bride, nor the two young ladies her bridesmaids. This was merely graduation from AUB.
Nicosia, Cyprus, March 1982. With long-time collaborator Walid Itayim, a fiery-fingered guitarist, prolific songwriter, and webmaster of this very site. This meeting produced "Broken Dreams", a collection of original songs which met with some success in war-torn Beirut.
Uncle Sam's, January 1982. This event saw me playing alongside such greats as bassist Ramzi Hitti (Lebanon's Pastorius) at left, and Khalid Khudeiry (right), drummer, percussionist and guitarist extraordinaire. Walid Itayim is seated with his back to the camera.
